Here’s a fun fact: In 1776, George Washington ordered a cannon be placed on top of Dorchester Heights, in what is now known as South Boston, forcing the evacuation of British troops from Boston.

Where tradition meets trendy, South Boston, or… Southie, offers a spectrum of things to do.

With beautiful and historic parks, an energetic beach scene, and countless bars and restaurants, this neighborhood is great for anyone wanting a lively lifestyle.

The cost of homes can vary greatly in Southie, but over the last year, the median sold price for condos was $800,000 and the median price for single-family homes was $970,000 – it might not be your most affordable area of Boston, but it’s worth it for the street festivals and parades, live music, dog parks and breweries.
