Before delivery apps, there were horses. 144 of them, stabled five floors high on Harrison Avenue in Boston's South End - the engine behind Jordan Marsh's legendary retail empire. Today that building is Jordan Lofts, one of Boston's most stunning adaptive reuse projects. And we're proud to call it one of ours. The Stable That Made Home Delivery Modern: We think of home delivery as a modern convenience, when it actually began in Boston with horses, and those horses lived at 477 Harrison Avenue in the South End. If you walk past the building today, the ornate brickwork might surprise you.
