Absolutely SICK of AI when calling and dealing with any regular every day services.

This is the new normal:

I called to schedule a payment on a bill that’s slightly behind. Can’t do what I want online. So I called xfinity (internet).

Took a full 15 minutes to force through the queue following their prompts - in order to simply speak with a live agent. I entered many prompts to get there.

Finally got someone who was nice, but couldn’t help me. So she transferred me to what she said was a billing specialist.

Waited again. Got someone who clearly had a very thick accent, India, and was reading from a script.

She couldn’t help me either. So she asked me to wait as she transferred me to someone who could help.

THIRD person on the phone, gave me the spiel, and asked me to receive a text to authenticate. Note - I had already done this - twice. Then he asked how he could help and explained that I had been trying for 20 minutes to simply make a special payment arrangement. His first response was to take me back to the website and - guess what - use the AI chat feature online. In other words - out of THREE people working at xfinity - not ONE would help or was able to - to simply set up a full account payment for a couple weeks away. This matters to me for my cash flow which can be really challenging during slow seasons.

So I explained to this guy (also with a thick accent, India, reading from a script): that I could not use what options were available and wanted to arrange something with a supervisor slightly different. And then I added that I had been on the phone for over 20 minutes. Keep in mind I’m making this call during the work day hours too. He responded by saying “well 20 minutes isn’t that long”.

If someone knows how to deck someone square in the jaw through the phone, I’d appreciate knowing how. Before I said something atrocious I hung up.

AI is here to stay, will only be used more and more, so the answer IMO is to cut even more services to the bare minimum. Business are literally giving their soul away for the cheap easy $$$ of not hiring real people anymore. Eventually even CEO’s won’t exist and business will be entirely virtually run. If this is the world that everyone wants, I’ll see myself out the door.
