Our team joined Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, and housing partners from across Massachusetts to celebrate a fresh round of housing investments that will create and preserve thousands of homes statewide.

Two Beacon communities were included in this year's awards. New funding will support the preservation and rehabilitation of Chatham West Apartments in Brockton, helping ensure 300 affordable homes remain a part of the community for years to come. It will also advance 793 Washington Street in Newton, a new 58-home family community that will expand affordable housing opportunities in a transit-accessible neighborhood.

Thanks to New England Real Estate Journal for featuring the progress underway at The Homes at Avon Park in Avon, Connecticut, where Beacon Communities is transforming a long-underutilized office park into much-needed mixed-income housing.

The first phase will create 100 new homes, including 85 affordable and 15 market-rate apartments. Together with the future Avon Village phase, the redevelopment will bring 176 mixed-income homes to the community while adding more than 50% to Avon’s existing affordable housing stock.

This final phase of a redevelopment effort more than 15 years in the making is the latest in a long line of sustainable design achievements.
