We hosted MassHousing and the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank at Treehouse at Easthampton Meadow to showcase the progress of our deep energy retrofit demonstration program made possible through their investments. This project will significantly reduce energy use and emissions while improving resident comfort and long-term building performance. It was a great opportunity to highlight how innovative climate financing can support sustainable, affordable housing. Beacon team members from Western Massachusetts recently participated in the Treehouse Foundation's Runway 5K in support of Beacon’s Treehouse at Easthampton Meadow community and the Foundation’s mission to provide permanency for youth in foster care. Beacon is proud to partner with the Treehouse Foundation at this intergenerational community, where older adults and families play an active role in creating a supportive environment for children and teens in foster care. This unique model fosters connection, stability, and a sense of belonging for residents of all ages.

Through community programming, partnerships, and everyday engagement, residents can connect with services that support well‑being, reduce isolation, and encourage people to seek help when they need it.

Yesterday, we celebrated the completion of The Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony alongside residents, partners, and local leaders, marking the culmination of a 17‑year transformation in South Boston that honors the past while building for the future.

Thanks to the many leaders who joined us for this celebration, including Representative Stephen F. Lynch, who grew up at Old Colony, Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭, Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities Undersecretary Danielle Bastarache, State Senator Nick Collins, State Representative David Biele, MassHousing, and our own Darcy Jameson who has been a part of this project since Beacon joined as a development partner in 2010. We were especially honored to hear from 50-plus-year resident Phyllis Corbitt and Chaton Green, Business Agent at Building and Construction Trades Council of the Metropolitan District and a former student at the Joseph M. Tierney Learning Center. SPOKE closed the event with a powerful performance of “Moving Together Into Our New Home," which is part of their larger HOMECOMING multi-disciplinary exhibition featured in their new gallery in residence at Old Colony.

This moment would not have been possible without the enduring partnership of the Boston Housing Authority, City of Boston, and many public and private partners. We also extend our deepest thanks to the McGonagle family, and especially the late Bill McGonagle, whose leadership and commitment were foundational to making this vision a reality. Most importantly, we thank the residents of Old Colony for their patience, resilience, and partnership throughout this multiphase redevelopment.
