Today I hosted an open house at 40 Lydon Street with listing agent Dennis Folan.

Believed to date to the late 1800s, the original house was considerably smaller. Over time, it grew into a home of more than 3,000 square feet, with the historical character carried thoughtfully into the newer spaces.

Historical features like the banister, clawfoot tub, and the detailed woodwork tell the story of where the house began,.and show just how carefully it has evolved.

I loved seeing so many neighbors, families, and runners out there today, and I’m especially happy to support Walpole High School’s cross country and track & field programs.

One of those mornings that makes me really appreciate this community. 🏃‍♀️

A private well adds another layer to evaluating a home.

Before meeting my buyers for a showing today, I was looking into the requirements for this particular property and town. In Massachusetts, private well requirements can vary by municipality, and water quality is only part of the picture.

I also want to understand what was actually tested, when it was tested, and what we know about the well system itself.

It’s one more example of why the details behind a property matter.

Some homes are distinguished not only by their architecture, but by the history held within their walls.

Built in 1911, 845 North Street was known as The Kinderhof. Historical records preserved with the home describe it as having been “built and maintained for the rearing of 8 children,” made possible through the generosity of four women.

The children who grew up here were educated and supported until they became self-supporting. Their photographs remain with the home, alongside remarkable images of its original rooms, craftsmanship, and exterior.

Today, much of that character remains recognizable, thoughtfully preserved within a home that has continued to evolve across generations.

There is something particularly fitting about a house founded in generosity, created as a place for children to grow, continuing as a family home 115 years later.
