"5 Tips to Save for a Down Payment

📍Save this one so you can come back to it when you’re ready to start saving!

1️⃣ Automate your savings. Set a specific amount of money to go into your savings every time a paycheck is deposited, for example. You won’t need to remember to do it yourself—and can still make progress on your savings.

2️⃣ Start selling items you no longer want or need. Instead of waiting until a few weeks before you move, sell those items now. The profit can go right into your savings account.

3️⃣ Cut the cable cord. Choose one or two streaming platforms to pay for instead and put the extra money toward your down payment savings.

4️⃣ Get a side gig. There are many ways to make extra money, like driving for a rideshare company or getting freelance work—remember to put your earnings right into your savings account.

5️⃣ Adjust your car insurance. If you’re now driving fewer miles because you’re working from home or you’ve improved your credit, you may be able to reduce your monthly insurance payments. All you have to do is call and ask.

However, it’s not necessary or right for everyone. Here are some key factors to take into consideration if you’re not sure whether you should get a home warranty:

✔️ A home warranty covers many of the systems and appliances in your home that aren’t covered by homeowners insurance, like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and some appliances that fail due to age or typical wear and tear.

✔️ This coverage is separate from homeowners insurance. If interested, you’ll need to seek out a policy through a dedicated provider.

✔️ You are still responsible for paying a service fee or deductible every time you use your home warranty and are limited to using service providers who are contracted through your home warranty company.

While a home warranty is not required by mortgage companies, it can provide an added peace of mind to have in addition to your homeowners insurance.

With spring fast approaching, it’s time to get back outside and prep your lawn for warmer weather. Here’s a checklist for getting your lawn back in shape after a long winter:

✔️Tune up your mower. Change the oil, air filter and spark plug.
✔️Clean the clutter. Remove branches, leaves, or trash that may have accumulated over the winter.
✔️Weed around the edges to create a clean perimeter.
✔️Seed any spots where the grass has died to start re-growing it in those areas.
✔️If you don’t have grass, fill in any empty patches with landscaping materials.

Don’t forget to prioritize tidying your lawn if you plan to sell your home this spring or summer. The outside of your home is a key first impression for potential buyers.
