Remember the ‘80s? The decade of cassette tapes, big hair bands, and shoulder pads? That’s the same decade that Fred Dodds started making his mark in real estate. With four decades in the industry, he still genuinely loves what he does.

“The great thing about real estate is that it’s never boring,” says Fred. He has seen the industry change in ways few agents can claim. When Fred first got his real estate license in 1984, the MLS arrived as a printed book every two weeks. Contracts were just two pages long. There were no cell phones, no online listings, and no instant digital signatures. It was the dark ages of real estate.

Yet through every shift in technology, Fred has remained exactly where he started: WK Real Estate.

“It was a great choice,” he says of joining the company, then known as Wright Kingdom. “I couldn’t be happier with how it worked out.”

Growing up in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Tama loved her hometown, “but not the weather,” she laughs. “I decided that I needed more sunshine. I love sun and I love light,” she adds with a smile.

In 2001, she made the move to Arizona, where she worked as an occupational therapist and met her husband, Wade, a pediatrician. They fell in love, got married, and welcomed their first child. “I knew we were going to have a big family,” she says. This brought them
to Colorado so they could live near family. Tama went on to have four more children, becoming a devoted mother as well as a successful entrepreneur.

Tama’s lifelong passion for good design and creative eye led her to open a design and staging business, t.s.heinrichs Design. Owning a business gave her the flexibility to focus on her young family while still enjoying the opportunity to help others create beautiful spaces. At the same time, she and her husband began investing in and renovating properties in Summit County, Colorado.

“EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS NEGOTIABLE,” says Jennifer Rutherford, wisdom passed down from her late father-in-law, Rob, with one important caveat. “But most things simply aren’t worth negotiating.” She knows what battles to fight for her clients.

What inspires Jennifer is a happy client. “That’s the ultimate objective,” she comments. After all, she gives every ounce of effort to help them find the home of their dreams. She is intentionally present and keeps her circle small on purpose so the people she works with get real time, real care, and real attention. Her business has grown organically through referrals.

Real estate is near and dear to her heart. “Both my husband and I are from real estate families,” she says. Jennifer’s father was in commercial real estate in New York City. Growing up in New Jersey, Jennifer actually met her husband in Boston before moving to Boulder for a brief stint. Then it was off to California for ten years before moving back to Boulder.

Standing at the edge of a mountain, wind pressing hard against aluminum wings, Matt Corley knows exactly what comes next. You don’t guess. You don’t rush. You commit. After nearly 30 years of hang gliding, Matt has learned that success (whether in the air or in real estate) can almost be predicted. Why? It comes down to preparation, focus, and the courage to move when the moment is right.

Hang gliding is unforgiving.

“You get butterflies in your stomach before you launch and you have to be very focused,” says Matt. “When you do your pre-flight inspection, you can’t forget things. I only fly when I don’t have to think about much else.”

There is no autopilot, no margin for distraction, and no room for shortcuts. “Your brain is trying to keep you alive,” Matt explains. “You have to get a hold of the fear and conquer that.” Every pre-flight check matters. Every decision carries weight. That same discipline defines Matt’s approach to real estate in Boulder, where market shifts are fast, stakes are high, and timing can make all the difference between a smooth landing and a missed opportunity.

Danna Hinz and Melanie Miller are the kind of women you want in your corner when life gets intense. Built for high-pressure moments and big life transitions, this Front Range duo has turned calm under fire into both a lifestyle and a career.

From Deep Waters To Deal Tables Long before she was negotiating contracts, Danna was learning how to stay steady underwater. As a teenager around her father’s dive shop, Adventure Scuba, she became a rescue diver at 15 and an instructor at 18, mastering the art of breathing, assessing, and moving forward with intention. Today, after more than 27 years in real estate, that same unflappable mindset still defines the way she serves her clients.

Melanie’s path to real estate started in a TV control room. With a broadcast management degree, she worked at Channel 31 “before it was Fox,” earning an Emmy for video editing in the analog era. When television’s long hours stopped fitting family life, she pivoted into real estate—and stayed. Decades later, her eye for detail, timing, and story now guides buyers through one of the biggest purchases of their lives.

Kelly Majure is an overcomer through and through. Challenges that would have sidelined others have instead given her grit and gratitude.

“I continue to try to practice gratitude,” says Kelly. “It’s part of my daily ritual.” It’s a game-changer in her bustling real estate career.

“Real estate can be such an up-and-down business. Practicing gratitude smooths out the ride a little bit.” When she starts to panic about where her next deal is coming from, she pivots. “I remind myself where I’ve been and what I have both personally and professionally.”

“I had a pretty horrific accident hiking in 1993,” she recalls. “I was almost an amputee.” After the accident, walking unassisted took nearly a year and required a scooter or crutches. Multiple setbacks and surgeries followed while she was working as a paralegal.

Read more about Kelly Majure on pages 16-19 of the January issue of the Boulder County Real Producers.
