Happy Friday & Happy Birthday to All You Virgos Out There! These pics were a highlight for me this week! I've waited patiently since the start of the school year to capture this crew together now that everyone is so grown and busy on their own schedules! I mean almost chasing them out the door in the morning as they go out to catch the bus to get it. But look how they came together last night as we celebrated Alaya turning 17!!! & Blake winning its home game opener against Kennedy 47-0! This Freshman and Senior gave their mom the pic she's been waiting and wanting to capture all year and I didn't even have to ask❤️ lol! Now I did ask for the group shot with the whole crew I just couldn't resist. Baby steps y'all I am that photo bomb mom! PEACE & LOVE TO YOU ALL

Great Day Family! Taking a point of personal privilege to share a fun fact and then Just FACTS:

So fun fact you may not have known about me is that I was born at Howard University Hospital; gave birth to my first two children at Howard University Hospital and also graduated from Howard University! Bison Blood Runs Thick! I took this pic on the way home from a day filled with history making events yesterday and thought I'd share some of my personal history with you. 🥰

So the Just FACTS are despite what you may be hearing about the housing market and what you believe that you understand about what's transpiring in and around it, it is mission critical that you remain engaged with professionals that are knowledgeable and sincere about your outcomes when it comes to how you are managing your Real Estate goals and objectives. Do not be duped out of representation, do not believe everything you read on the internet, do not be discouraged by what looks like unending obstacles to distract you from achieving your goal of homeownership, home retention or building upon what you have been able to sustain thus far. 🙌🏾

I felt inclined this morning to inspire you to be encouraged and be of good faith, trusting that what is for you, is for you, and to remind you that when you allow your steps to be ordered they will lead you to where you need to be, surrounded by those who want to actually see you there. I want to see you there! 😇

Wisdom is not based solely on the number of years you have lived, but rather the quality and extent of your life experiences along the way. 🙏🏾

I enjoyed sharing some life experience with students from Accokeek Academy during a visit to JA Finance Park with my PGCAR associates! 🤩

Exposing young people to the realities of life early on helps give them a jump start on developing their life's experiences and sets them up to navigate in a proactive posture instead of a reactive one later on in life. 🙌🏾

A little food for thought! Share your wisdom even if it seems like they are not listening. 😉

Surrounded by Black History while making history today in Annapolis during Maryland Relators 2024 Lobby Day. With its "Love & Legislation" theme, Realtors from all over the state of Maryland came out in force to share key priorities and insights into thoughtful legislative strategies that can help to create a housing market that works for everyone, renters and owners alike.

Affordable & Missing Middle Housing are of the utmost concern for many right now, and bills that address zoning ordinances; landlord and tenant rights; condo fees and HOA regulations, tax credits and incentives; home valuations, as well as financial literacy education and funding downpayment assistance programs are ALL at the helm of what's up for review in the General Assembly this session. Think this doesn't affect you??? think again. You have to live somewhere ...

Whether you are renting to own, investing to build wealth, moving up or right sizing ... to ensure a healthy synergy in the housing market we must understand there is no one size fits all approach to any of the issues under review, and many bills start out that way.

It is your voice and testimony as constituents and our subject matter experience as Realtors, whose role it is to protect the public interest through our work, that can help to inform a more intricate and direct way to be sure the issues at hand get resolved with a detailed approach to the solution.

That's not always as glamorous or fulfilling at the start, but it is an effective way to reveal and address the root of the problem rather than masking it with a temporary fix that feels good in the moment, but in the long run fails with unintended consequences.

Consider this my love talk for the day in my recently defined love language "acts of service" doing what I do cause I love you! ❤️

Appraisal bias refers to bias based on race, ethnicity, or national origin in the opinion of home values rendered by a professional appraiser.

If you think you may have experienced appraisal bias whether you were selling or refinancing a home, consider submitting your comments to the Appraisal Subcommittee this month. If you need help with it, message me. They are trying to get it right & your stories and testimony shed light.

This is not just for the consumer but also for the professional who may have aspired to become an appraiser, but could not find a supervisor to work with, now is a great time to speak on the disparity to ensure we get the necessary diversity to "level the playing field"!

Home Ownership should not be a dream deferred, but for so many it is. The way forward is through effective and strategic policy change. We are on the front line doing our part to pave the way for dreams to be realized.

Federal, state and local policy makers are taking note of the issue with great priority. More lending programs, tax credits and exploration of creative solutions can help put you in the game as it relates to real estate this year. You know if I'm tuned in then you're tuned in through me, if not directly. Stay tuned and let's make history!
