RIP Legend. He was a great actor and strong representation of black fatherhood in Film and Television.
NEW: John Amos, the actor best known for playing doting father James Evans Sr. on the sitcom "Good Times," has died, his publicist told the Associated Press. He was 84.
Amos was also known for his role as the older Kunta Kinte on the 1977 TV miniseries "Roots," for which he received an Emmy nomination.
