Rode 4 miles up Beartrap Canyon today until we hit talus piles that were slippery due to misty snow that would have been treacherous to cross. The ride had a mystical feel to it, all clouded in with steady light snow. I was glad I'd bundled up. This ride is easy to get to from Bozeman, 40 minutes or so, but feels like another place altogether. The whole ride is right along the Madison River. The upper Madison offers some of the gnarliest rapids in Montana (a pair of my glasses in the riverbottom are a testament to this), but the lower offers completely relaxing and safe water for tubing in summer. The whole stretch is very popular for fishing whether by driftboat or from the shore. See my Linktree link in bio, or contact me for available properties in this area.
