Be bear aware! As the days grow shorter, bears become more active in Gallatin Valley. Help us keep these animals wild by keeping your garbage safe! Secure your trash by storing it in your garage or behind a locked gate until 7 a.m. on your trash collection day.

The Solid Waste Division has bear-resistant bins for the neighborhoods bears frequent most in the City. Please call 406-582-3236 to learn more about bear bins and request them for your neighborhood. With school starting Wednesday, Aug. 26, school zone hours have been updated to match student arrival and dismissal times:

🚸 𝟕:𝟒𝟓 𝐀𝐌–𝟒 𝐏𝐌

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: Ridge View Elementary’s school zone remains in effect from 7:30 AM–5 PM.

Please slow down and stay alert around all of our schools. Students will be walking, biking and traveling throughout the area before and after school, so keep an eye out for kids even after you've left a designated school zone.

Thanks for helping our students get to and from school safely. Go Panthers!

𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: Our original post indicated the updated school zone hours applied only to N. Jackrabbit Ln., Spooner Rd. and Triple Crown Rd. The 7:45 AM–4 PM hours apply to school zones throughout Belgrade city limits.

Ridge View Elementary is outside city limits and is not affected by this change. Its existing school zone hours remain 7:30 AM–5 PM.

The City of Belgrade would like to remind residents and businesses that the irrigation restrictions adopted last year are still in place as we head into the warmer months.

To help conserve water and reduce strain on the city’s water system during peak demand times, irrigation watering is not allowed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Watering is permitted outside of those hours. Hand watering with a hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle is allowed at any time.

These simple steps help ensure there is enough water available for everyday needs, fire protection, and emergencies.

The City also encourages everyone to use water wisely by avoiding overwatering and checking that irrigation systems are properly aligned, timed and working efficiently.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping protect our community’s water supply! Please note that irrigation during restricted hours is a misdemeanor violation under Belgrade City Code.

If your having troubles in your neighborhood with dogs barking, off leash or waste not being picked up, please-

1. Ask your neighbor kindly to address the issue. Be friendly and respectful. They can review the covenants on our website.

2. If it’s a consistent issue that you need help with, please email [email protected]

3. If it’s after hours, an emergency or escalates please contact your local Animal Control or non emergency line.

It's election season and yard signs are popping up all over town. Here are some do's and don'ts about all temporary signs, per City Code:

❌ Don’t place signs on public right of way or public property.
✔️ Do ensure there is a minimum of two feet between a portion of the sign and the adjacent property, street right of way, or curb line. In residential districts, temporary signs must be 6 feet or less in height and not exceed 6 square feet in size.
✔️ Do ensure you have the property owner’s permission to place any signs
✔ Do remove signs within 5 days of the end of the “event”
