Who's voting early this year? Well, it depends on your world view. Read on:

The Gambler might think the whole political thing is a game of chance, a roll of the dice and nothing more. He/She/It (trying damn hard here to be politically somewhat correct) will sit back, place a bet or two on the football game and leave it up to Lady Luck.

The Philosopher will take a different tact. They believe they really have no control over anything except maybe what they're going to have for dinner tonight and even that is in question since they can't be sure they'll even be around for dinner. Their favorite words are "Possibly, Maybe, Might, Could,", words that keep the mystery of Fate in play. So they will tell us they have no say in the matter, but Fate will dictate what happens.

The Religious among us, the believers in a Higher Power, regardless of their particular brand of worship will tell us a Higher Power is in control of everything, some even believing that every breath we breathe every bird that flies does so in a world of predetermined outcome. Others will say no, we have been empowered with the gift and responsibility of Free Will, the right to choose right from wrong and thus be judged by our choices.

I could go on, but you get the point. We all have a point of view that will provide a path to our choices in the upcoming election.
But, here's a thought:

On July 13, 2024 near Butler Pennsylvania, a young man took matters into his own hands, climbed up on a roof with a rifle and took an unchallenged shot at Donald Trump, one of the two candidates for the office of President of the United States. As he squeezed of his initial round from a short distance, Trump turned his head to one side and the assassin's bullet missed his target by less than an inch, striking Trump's ear and not his head.

It was at that moment I became a believer in early voting. Why? Because it occurred to me that Lady Luck, Fate and the Higher Power I prefer to refer to as God voted early this year.

Vote early, vote November 5th, but vote Trump. You've been given the green light.

My neighbor doesn't like Donald Trump. Well, OK. Here's why:

He's rich, his father gave him $100 million and he went broke, what a loser! Said my neighbor.

Well, no. His dad DID leave him $1 million, which is a lot of money, and he turned it into around 6 billion at last report. And yes, he filed for reorganizational bankruptcy twice, thus paying off most of his creditors and saving thousands of jobs in the hotels and casinos he owned, jobs of working people. You know, like you and me. But wait, isn't making money a good thing? When you make money, don't others benefit as well? And when you make money, don't jobs get created, taxes get paid, cars get bought, homes get bought and so on? Neighbor, didn't you spend your life trying to make as much money as you could? Yes, you did. Next.

"He said the "P" word"! Yes, Pumpernickel is a bad word. Oh, THAT 'P' word! Oh my! Now, ladies, for those of you who either date or married a guy named Norman who has spent most of his life in a library or a monastery, yes, the 'P" word would shock you, even if you read it in a book. For the rest of you, not so much. Your husband, if he ever played any sport, spent time in a locker room where much worse than the 'P' word was uttered often. We even called one another the 'P' word when one of us wasn't living up to the expectations of the others in a sporting event, acted cowardly in any situation or otherwise didn't act like an American male. Yes, it's called Toxic Masculinity. Black American males use a worse word, the 'N' word openly and often without anyone complaining. It's much more damaging than the 'P' word, which they use openly and often in everything from street talk to rap music. Trump says it once and he is the Devil. Please, grow up. Get over it.

"He is rude and calls people names!" Remember the old rhyme, "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." BTW, what names have you called Trump? Let's start with N**i, Dictator, Misogynist, Orange Man, etc. etc. and so on. But you HATE him! There's the ugliest word that can come out of a person's mouth. It's the 'H' word. Grow up.

I make these points not because I love Donald Trump but because I love my country and it is close to becoming something I can't love. Trump IS flawed. So am I. And, admit it, so are YOU. So, the three of us do have something in common, we are Americans. Trump's opponent in the upcoming election is an attractive, but ineffectual person. Trump is a flawed, but extremely effective leader. Right now we need a strong leader in place to preserve our Democratic Republic from the real threat of our country slowly melting into a Socialist nation, governed by self-serving bureaucrats and dictators who will elevate themselves at the expense of the rest of us. This is a real threat. Not only to Americans but to the rest of the world. A diminished America means a world in disorder. Think Putin, XiXi Ping, The Mullahs of Iran, and others. A world where they wrote the rules would not be a good world in which to live.

So, calm down, grow up, ask what's best for all of us so we can all finally get together again as a repaired nation.

Vote Trump.
