The brrr months are here and we know the season is changing! Look ahead for travel plans and changing weather while adventuring in Montana!

Not to sound alarmist, but WINTER IS COMING! ❄️

There are only a few more weeks until most park roads close to vehicles on Nov. 1 for the winter season. The only road open year-round to vehicles is from the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, to the Northeast Entrance in Silver Gate/Cooke City, Montana.

Until most roads officially close on Nov. 1, snow and dangerous driving conditions can cause temporary road closures. So, be sure to check the status of park roads before you venture to the park:

✅ Call (307) 344-2117 for recorded road information, or

✅ Sign up to receive Yellowstone road alerts on your mobile phone by texting 82190 to 888-777 (an automatic text reply will confirm receipt and provide instructions).

Southwest Montana turns into a different world every fall. Ghost towns like Bannack feel a little spookier, aspens change colors along riverbanks, and the whole region glows gold before winter closes in. Follow the fall colors out of Dillon and into the Big Hole Valley on this scenic loop:
