Sea Turtle season runs two more months. This sea turtle was released about a month ago on Coquina Beach. Krysta had laid her eggs the evening before. The Sea Turtle volunteers placed a monitor on her to learn and educate and released her into the Gulf. They tell me the biggest problem right now are people not filling holes on the beach, people leaving beach chairs and tents over night, placement too close to nests, exterior lights on along the beach and curious people walking the beach with bright lights. Please do your part to help the Turtles! Let them do their thing. Enjoy the moment but understand the turtles challenges (mama getting to and from the water and the babies heading to the water when they hatch) Call the 24-hour hotline at 941-301-8434 if you find disoriented or distressed hatchlings or adult sea turtles. If you find a distressed turtle. Do not return it to the water. The hotline and volunteers will respond promptly.
