🇺🇸 Property Taxes & Homeownership: An Ongoing Discussion

For many people, paying off a home is a major achievement — representing years of hard work, planning, and commitment.

At the same time, some homeowners question how property taxes fit into that picture, especially after a home is fully paid off. It can raise broader questions about long-term affordability and what ownership means over time.

If you know someone who is behind on their mortgage, share this:

1. You can be 3 months behind, and not be at risk of a formal foreclosure!

You MUST be 120 days or “4” months behind before they can file!

2. The lender will THREATEN you w foreclosure BEFORE you are 4. months behind!

THEY ARE BLUFFING/misleading you!

3. PAY ONE payment even if you can’t pay the others to catch up!

YOUR LENDER MUST ACCEPT ONE PAYMENT EVEN IF YOU OWE 2 or 3 MONTHS!

4. They will “lie” and say you MUST make both or all 3 payments (3rd coming due), to avoid foreclosures!!!

NOT TRUE!

5. Before you fall behind, call and ask if you can SKIP ONE PAYMENT!

6. If you fall 3 payments behind, TRY SENDING 1 payment if that’s all you have! COMFIRM IT HAS BEEN APPLIED TOWARD YOUR MORTGAGE.

7. If you can’t make a payment because of an increase in your PROPERTY TAXES or INSURANCE!

Your lender MUST give you a 6 month payment plan to bring your escrow current!

8. If you know a formal foreclosure BEFORE losses has been filed. NO ONE CAN FORCE YOU TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR A STRANGER.

They’re trying to serve you!

9. Seek wise counsel!
