Weymouth, MA

The Town of Weymouth is very special to my family and me. We bought our first home and investment property here, and we couldn't be happier about our decision.

Weymouth has many amazing things to offer its residents, including a great place for families and outdoor activities. Over the last five years, the town of Weymouth has taken the initiative to improve its schools. Currently, construction is underway to build a $164.2 million middle school that will house over 1400 students. Weymouth also provides a convenient commute to and from Boston via car or commuter rail.

Quincy, Massachusetts

Having lived in Quincy for several years, I can say it is one of my favorite towns in Massachusetts. Aside from having a rich history, Quincy has a large and diverse population. It is great for families and young professionals. Quincy has four subway stations, which makes it super convenient to travel to and from Boston. There are also many great restaurants and bars where you can enjoy yourself with family and friends.

Braintree, Massachusetts

Renting vs. Buying

Are you asking yourself whether you should rent an apartment or buy a home? The good news is that the answer is up to you.

I always tell my clients that owning a home can come with many costs. One of the benefits of homeownership is gaining an asset. For some people, it starts a path to building generational wealth. However, being a homeowner also has its drawbacks. Maintaining a home comes with tons of expenses that may not be suitable for everyone.

As far as renting goes, it can also be ideal for some because it doesn’t limit where you can live. Renting can be of low maintenance and lower costs over the long term. The downside to renting revolves around the deposits required to move in (which can cost upwards of $5,000). Another cost to consider is a yearly rent increase.

Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the ground. Radon is known to cause cancer. While there are many sources of radiation, radon remains the largest source of exposure. Because we spend so much time indoors, radon in the home represents the biggest concern. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) recommends all homes and schools be tested for radon.

Most home inspection companies give customers the option to add a radon test to a residential home inspection for an additional cost, along wit other services.

What is Lead?

Lead is a highly toxic metal that may cause a range of health problems, especially in young children. When lead is absorbed into the body, it can cause damage to the brain and other vital organs, like the kidneys, nerves and blood.

Why was lead paint used?

Lead was added to paint prior to 1978 to accelerate drying, increase durability, maintain a fresh appearance, and resist moisture that causes corrosion.

Homes built before 1978 may contain lead. The Lead Law protects a child’s right to a lead-safe home. It requires the removal or control of lead paint in houses with children under 6. If houses built before 1978 are being sold or rented, sellers, real estate agents, and owners who rent their homes are required to notify their buyers and tenants of lead risks.
