Late Friday night, the City of Branson ordered the 76 Family Inn to be vacated after inspectors determined the property was unsafe to live in under the City’s Dangerous Building Ordinance.
Families and individuals were forced to leave immediately, in sub-freezing temperatures at night, highlighting once again, the fragile housing reality many in our community face.
This situation underscores a painful truth: Branson does not have enough safe, affordable housing.
This is exactly why Elevate Community matters. While Elevate Branson is committed to building safe, stable housing, we’ve faced unnecessary delays, revoked approvals, and added costs that slow progress and ultimately impact the people who need housing most.
Even after finally receiving our building permits, seven months after submitting stamped and sealed plans, we are now being charged additional fees on five lots where our contractor followed direct City instruction.
We’re asking for fair, consistent treatment so we can keep moving forward and help prevent more individuals and families from being displaced.
👉 You can help.
• Write, email, or call your Alderman
• Contact the City Administrator at 417-334-3345
• Ask the City to waive the building fees and extend the same fee waiver offered to other affordable housing projects
Staying informed, participating locally, and voting matter. Your voice matters. Together, we can advocate for solutions that build a safer, more compassionate Branson for everyone.
