Groundworks Collaborative

Groundworks Collaborative We provide shelter, supplemental food, and comprehensive support services to families and individuals

Groundworks Collaborative was established in 2015 as a result of the merger of two well-established organizations: the Brattleboro Area Drop In Center and Morningside Shelter (having been in existence for 27 and 36 years respectively). Groundworks Collaborative is an organization that provides a diverse array of services to address the full continuum of housing needs and food insecurity in the greater Brattleboro area.

Groundworks' Libby Bennett, Executive Director, and Susan Lienau, Advancement Director, joined Chloe Leary, Executive Director of the Winston Prouty Center, and Christine Hazzard, Executive Director of Brattleboro Housing Partnerships for a powerful conversation about community collaboration.

We discussed how each organization faces serious challenges — yet works together to build positive, can-do problem-solving programs for the community.

The interns are part of the Statewide Summer Internship Program through the Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships, in partnership with BDCC. This summer, 17 UVM students will spend 10 weeks in Brattleboro, placed at organizations across the community — and we're thrilled to have them here!

The panel on Housing Solutions and Challenges was a perfect way to close out the students' orientation week.
