Our Annual Celebration was full of moments to share. Thank you to all who came and participated! We heard from one of our new shared equity homeowners- how she overcame the odds to find a home she could afford in her home community close-by her mother, we elected new board members, reflected on the significant contributions of our outgoing board members and had the honor of presenting two awards:
🏆Our Partnership Award went to in recognition of their restorative practices and the impact of their work within WWHT’s housing community.
🏆We have the honor of presenting the Tom Yahn Housing Leadership Award every other year given out to a community member who demonstrates a long-term commitment to the preservation and development of affordable housing and/or to the lives of those who live in affordable housing. This year Laura Chapman of Putney was the recipient. The award itself was introduced by Vermont State Representative Mike Mrowicki.
“The Tom Yahn Community Award celebrates the spirit of Tom Yahn. Anyone who knew Tom saw his dedication to our community, especially our youth, and the cause of affordable Housing. Tom epitomized that community spirit. That Laura Chapman is this year’s recipient is so appropriate as Laura also epitomized that community support of giving to and serving others."
