Did you know?
Our city was once called, Kramer, named after a German immigrant who owned a local vineyard. 🍇
Later, at Mr. Kramer’s own request, the town was renamed Bremen … a nod to his homeland in Germany. 🇩🇪 🇺🇸
Bremen’s future took a big turn when the Chattanooga, Rome, and Columbus railroad 🛤️ crossed paths with the Georgia Pacific rail lines right here … in what is now downtown Bremen. That intersection didn’t just bring trains, it brought opportunity. From that crossing, our textile heritage was born, as factories sprung up along the tracks and the local economy thrived as a result.
Today, we might grumble about the trains that still pass through town. 🤓
But without the railroad, what would Bremen have become? 🚂
