The panel in this picture is a Federal Pacific Stab Lok panel, and is a well known fire hazard. Typically found in older homes built before 1981, they can be found in homes built into the 1990's. Besides saying "Federal Pacific" on the front, they are easily identified by the main power breaker being outside of the panel door. Breakers today for the circuit energized, the switched to the center of the panel, Stab Lok's are energized by switching the breaker away from the center of the panel.
