Over the past week I’ve had several conversations with people that are currently renting tell me that they want to “wait and see what happens in the market before buying”

I can understand their hesitation but I usually bring up this old saying: “Time in the market beats timing the market.”

We’ve all heard it, but what does it really mean? Here in Kitsap County we have consecutively seen each year over the last 5 years on average at least 9.5% annual increase in housing prices, and there’s no signs of it slowing down!

Simply put the house you could have purchased for $350,000 last year is worth at least $383,000 today, possibly more!

On top of that you probably spent at least $21,600 on rent in the last year (*based on average 3 bed home rental prices)

So in this scenario trying to “time the market” has effectively cost you a total of $54,600 in just one year!!

I understand everyone’s situation can be different. But there are still homes coming on the market daily that make sense to buy. If you’re even remotely considering making that jump into home ownership, let talk!
