The real losers in this—and it started as nothing more than a money grab from a couple of consumers and greedy lawyers—are going to be first-time home-buyers. It will quite possibly push these consumers away, perhaps forever, from the dream of owning a home.

The second outcome of this, and this will make more sense if you stop to anylize it, is that more and more brokerages will likely go to a small fee-only transaction. While that sounds good on the surface, especially to home-sellers, is that it will likely drive those who have been in the business to give sellers excellent service out of the business. Your choices as a seller will be limited to being thrown into a company who offers a one-size-fits-all service. The natural, but negative, outcome from that is what has already been happening in these types of firms…they don’t care if your home sells today, as long as three other homes do.

Realtors across the country are bracing for a seismic shift in the way they do business. Starting August 17, new rules will roll out that overhaul the way Realtors get paid to help people buy and sell their homes.

We love this city,

Last year, Brentvale cabin at Crockett Park was dismantled because the structure was deteriorating. The city has been working to develop alternatives for replacing the cabin, and earlier this fall the City Commission was presented with a proposed design and project plan for a partially enclosed pavilion.

The plan is to use this pavilion to focus on the history and significance of Brentwood, with historically-themed events. It will enable the Historic Commission to implement seasonal programming for Brentwood residents such as:

• Educational events
• Community craft and art demonstrations
• Community theater, music, and other oral traditions
• Joint programs with other entities such as the Williamson County Historical Society, the Brentwood Library, and various educational organizations

The best way to find a real estate agent to list your home is to interview them first; ask them these questions. Get to know them and determine for yourself if they are a good match for your property and for you before you turn the keys over to them to sell your home.
