Lamine Yamal may be one of football's brightest young stars, but he has a very different view of pressure than most people expect. At just 18 years old, the Barcelona and Spain winger has already played on some of the biggest stages in the world. Yet he believes the real struggles in life happen far away from the football field.
In an interview with Cadena SER, Yamal explained why he never feels nervous before a match. He said, "I never see or feel anything like pressure in football. There are people who have it much tougher. My mother gave birth to me when she was just 16 years old. That's real pressure. My father had to collect trash on the streets to feed our family. That's real pressure. All I have to do is play football."
Those words came from his own life. His mother, Sheila Ebana, was only 16 when she gave birth to him. His father, Mounir Nasraoui, worked whatever jobs he could, including collecting trash, to provide for the family. They faced many hardships, but they never stopped believing in a better future for their son.
Yamal grew up in Mataró, Spain, where he first played football in local parks. His talent was soon noticed, and a club director offered him a place on the team for free. That opportunity changed his life.
Even today, Yamal remembers where he came from. While millions admire his talent, he never forgets the sacrifices his parents made. To him, football is a privilege. The real pressure was carried by the people who gave him the chance to chase his dream.
