For Sarah Hysong, owner of Connestee Falls Realty, success has never been measured
solely by homes sold. It's measured by the communities she helps build, the relationships she nurtures, and the opportunities she creates for others.
That commitment to service has been a constant throughout her life. [...] Sarah has always been drawn to work that connects people and strengthens communities.
"Not everyone has a family that can afford to send their child to college," she says. "That's why we support the Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program—to enable students to get that good education and hopefully return to the area and give back."
Supporting local students isn't just a corporate commitment—it's a family tradition. Sarah's father, John Hysong, helped launch the scholarship program by sponsoring the very first fundraising golf tournament. Her stepmother, Lynda Hysong, served as chair of the CFSSP Board in 2013, and Sarah continued that legacy by serving on the board from 2016 to 2022. The program became even more personal in 2025 when her step-son, Jonathan Schultz, received a scholarship that helped him attend Brevard College.
After her career in corporate finance and then Peace Corps service, Sarah felt pulled home. She joined Connestee Falls Realty, a company with deep roots in the community it serves. Since becoming the firm's fourth owner in 2020, she has continued its tradition of helping people discover not just a home, but a place to belong.
Many members of the Connestee Falls Realty team are themselves residents of the community, giving them a unique perspective on the lifestyle they share with their clients. "Our motto is that we don't just sell a house—we gain a neighbor," Sarah says.
That philosophy reflects the way Sarah approaches both business and community service. Whether welcoming new residents, mentoring others, or investing in local students, she believes strong communities are built through lasting relationships.
"I love Brevard for its mountains, its music, its quietness, and because my family is here," she says. "I love that the CFSSP helps only students here in Transylvania County.
