What is your favorite person a real estate agent or a realtor?

Did you know there is a difference between a realtor and a real estate agent? Not many do, but there is. If you are looking to buy or sell property soon, you should be aware of this important distinction to make sure you the best person for the job.

Real Estate Agent: individuals who are licensed to help people buy, sell, and rent real estate.

Realtor: a real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The NAR is the largest trade association in the U.S for real estate. Although the term "Realtor" is commonly confused with that of "real estate agent," the title is open to a variety of professions within the real estate industry. One important difference to note is that realtors are bound by the NAR's Code of Ethics. Realtors promise to be transparent, honest, and uphold their clients' best interests in all transactions.

While all Realtors are technically real estate agents, not all real estate agents are Realtors. For example, employees of real estate companies are not Realtors. When it comes to such a large purchase, choose someone who has your best interests at heart!
