Sump pumps can have unexpected failures, like power outages. Or you could have the basin liner tear allowing gravel to intrude and block the float switch. This is why we always recommend to have a back up system installed with an alarm to alert home owners of failure. Not a necessity but will save you from water issues if you’re not checking your sump after heavy rain fall.

The year is 2026 and we still have houses with obsolete fire risk panels that were installed back in the 1950s to 1980s....

The year is 2026 and we still have houses with obsolete fire risk panels that were installed back in the 1950s to 1980s. This federal pacific panel almost had a couple breakers fall out when i took the cover panel off. Stab-lok style breakers often can have trip failures and poor connections that lead to overheating and arcing. If you see a panel with “stab-lok” or “push-matic “ breakers your next step should be to contact a licensed electrician to evaluate for an update.
