“Updated” sounds great in a listing… but what does it actually tell you? 👀

Maybe it means a brand-new kitchen completed last year. Maybe it means new flooring and fresh paint. Or maybe those “updates” happened more than a decade ago.

That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the home—it simply means buyers should look beyond the buzzwords.

When you see terms like updated or renovated, find out what was actually done, when the work was completed, and whether the improvements were purely cosmetic or included some of the home’s bigger-ticket components.

Because the updates you can’t immediately see can matter just as much as the ones you can.

A beautiful kitchen might grab your attention, but knowing the age and condition of things like the roof, heating system, windows, electrical, and plumbing can give you a much clearer picture of the home you’re considering—and the expenses you may need to plan for later.
