A few things here.
The NYC Department of Social Services is understaffed, and that needs to be fixed.
Not all landlords refuse vouchers, but many will opt to accept Section 8 instead of CityFheps in an attempt to circumvent housing discrimination complaints (it is still discrimination, btw).
I've had numerous ppl with a voucher tell me they were ghosted if they mentioned a CityFheps voucher, even after viewing the apartment.
The inconsistent CityFHEPS payments from the city make many landlords wary of taking a tenant with them. This is unfair as there are many people on this program who work, are in school, dealing with disability, or other circumstances which result in needing a little help. They suffer for the programs bad rep. This needs to change.
