There’s something about spring that makes a fresh, clean home feel even more satisfying. 🌷 A little seasonal maintenance can go a long way in helping your space feel brighter, more inviting, and well cared for. It’s also one of the easiest ways to refresh your home’s appearance without taking on a major project. Sometimes the smallest updates make the biggest difference.

Spring is one of the most active times in the housing market for a reason. More homes become available, properties show beautifully with fresh landscaping and longer daylight hours, and the entire real estate ecosystem, from lenders to inspectors to movers, is fully ramped up and ready to help you move smoothly. If you’re thinking about buying, spring offers the perfect balance of selection, energy, and opportunity to get settled before summer begins.

Homeownership adds more to your net worth the earlier you start. And remember, your first home doesn't have to be your dream home. Purchasing a smaller or more affordable home first can help you build equity that you can leverage later to upgrade. For all questions related to real estate, send me a message! I'd love to help.

A new house in 1938 cost $3,900. Adjusted for inflation that's $91,300 today. The median home actually costs $418,000.

Someone explain the other $327,000.

Because it's not just housing. When you adjust every number on this 1938 chart for inflation here's what life should cost right now.

• Average income: ~$40,500
• New house: ~$91,300
• New car: ~$20,100
• Average rent: ~$630 per month
• Harvard tuition: ~$9,800 per year
• Movie ticket: ~$5.85
• Gas: ~$2.34 per gallon
• Postage stamp: ~$0.70

The actual numbers in 2026:

• Median household income: ~$83,000 (looks good until you see everything else)
• Median home price: ~$418,000
• Average new car: ~$48,000
• Average rent: ~$1,700 per month
• Harvard tuition: ~$59,000 per year
• Movie ticket: ~$15
• Gas: ~$3.25 per gallon
• Postage stamp: ~$0.73

Income doubled. Everything else went up 4 to 6 times.

And here's the part that doesn't show up in any of these numbers. Productivity per American worker has increased dramatically since 1938 because of technology, automation, and infrastructure. The economy produces far more per person than it did in 1938.

The money exists. It just stopped flowing to the people doing the work.

The tweet above this chart says "they just worked harder, you know."

That's the whole joke. And it's not funny.
