The Patapsco Female Institute is now open for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm. Guests should access the site via the new pedestrian walkway located at the bottom of the hill on Sarah’s Lane.

Ellicott City’s other historic sites, the Ellicott City Firehouse Museum, the Ellicott City Colored School Museum, and the Ellicott City Log House are also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm. Besides all our great wine, find plenty of craft beer, cocktails, cheeses, charcuterie and sweets, perfect for your movie viewing pleasure. We've even got ice, cups and wine openers.

PLEASE NOTE:
The parking lot closes an hour and a half before showtime. Music starts shortly thereafter. Movies are provided free of charge for the enjoyment of the community. The Bin generously bears the significant cost to show the movies. Please support us by purchasing your movie snacks and libations from us. Carry-out from OEC restaurants is also encouraged.

Georgia property tax assessment notices will be arriving soon, and many homeowners don’t realize that the value assigned by the county can be challenged if it appears too high.
A higher assessed value can mean higher property taxes, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to review your notice when it arrives.

Here are a few important things to know:
• Your Assessment Notice is NOT a tax bill.
• If the county’s estimated market value is higher than what your home would realistically sell for, you may have grounds for an appeal.
• Property tax appeals generally must be filed within 45 days of the assessment notice date.
• Missing the deadline can eliminate your opportunity to challenge the assessment for the current tax year.

As a real estate professional, I regularly research home values and market trends. If you receive your assessment notice and would like a second opinion on whether the county’s value appears reasonable, I’m happy to help review it. I have successfully appealed the assessed value of my personal home several times!
