Real estate is often seen as just buying, selling, and renting properties—but for us, it has always been about the connections we make and the stories we become part of along the way.
A perfect example is how Jan met Ray Zimlin in 2023 at an open house for one of our listings in Ditmas Park. Ray not only bought the apartment he saw that day, but he also shared his dream of exhibiting his grandfather’s extraordinary artwork. 🎨🖌️🖼️
Ray’s grandfather, Salik Katz, is a 99-year-old Jewish-Ukrainian-Israeli artist whose remarkable oeuvre began in 1937 and continued to this year. After seeing his powerful paintings, shaped by his experiences in WWII and the murder of his family during the N**i occupation, we were deeply moved. We knew we had to help bring his art to a wider audience.
That moment marked the beginning of a deep friendship with Ray and set in motion upcoming exhibitions at the Brooklyn Public Library, Artmaggedon and, most immediately, the Flatbush Artists Studio Tour this coming weekend.
We warmly invite you to join us at 225 Argyle Road on September 14th and 15th for this special event—the first-ever American exhibition of Salik Katz’s paintings and sketches. You’ll also get to explore the creations of over 30 artists, displayed in their studios and on porches in the beautiful neighborhood of Ditmas Park, also known as Victorian Flatbush.
It’s an art exhibit but also a celebration of community, creativity, and connection. We hope to see you there!
