This sale was a labor of love and a testament to the power of long-term relationships. Having helped these owners rent this two-family home in Kensington for over 10 years, I was honored when they trusted me to handle the ultimate transition: the sale.

Navigating a fully tenanted property - that’s being sold with tenants in place comes with its own set of complexities. With tenants working opposing schedules and very narrow showing windows, every minute of access counted. Despite the logistical puzzle, the market responded with incredible energy—I fielded over 100 calls in the first week alone.

New York City Mayor Mamdani and LPC Chair Lisa Kersavage released a suite of new tools today as part of the administration's Block By Block housing plan to help New Yorkers create more housing in historic districts.

"The tools released today as part of Mayor Mamdani’s Block by Block Housing Plan demonstrate that we can preserve our historic districts and landmarks while also increasing New York City’s housing supply. These new resources will help homeowners and owners of smaller properties take advantage of new zoning opportunities, whether by adding an ADU for extended family or rental income, or by using landmark transfers to generate funds for maintaining their historic buildings while making it possible to create new housing nearby." – Landmarks Preservation Commission Chair Lisa Kersavage

The new LPC resources include:
✅ a searchable online map that shows where ADUs can be built in historic districts
✅ a dedicated LPC team to help homeowners considering building ADUs on their properties
✅ new resources for property owners interested in Transfer of Development Rights (TDRs) for individual landmarks
