Happy Mother’s day!
Hope everyone had a great day celebrating their mother’s yesterday.
Here photographed is my mom & wife. I’m exceedingly blessed to have them both in my life…
Mom
My mom was the type of mom – if you wrecked your bike and skinned your knee and came crying, she would say, “Rub some dirt on it and get back out there.” (I’m not sure if she ever actually said that, but you get the picture.) She wanted to raise her sons (4 of us) to be tough. She sacrificed everything to give us an idyllic upbringing. Unbelievable how she got us to every practice and game of every sport, every season and never missed church 3 times a week. She would sew our suits, plant a huge garden, can the harvest (I was scared to death of that pressure cooker). And when God called our family into ministry, she again gave up everything to live in a bus (no home for 10 years) and travel the country singing gospel music for the past 45 years. Now as she and dad face all of the challenges that come with aging, she continues to face it with undaunted resilience, courage and faith in God. Best mom ever!
Wife
Mother to our 3 children (and one in heaven we never met [from a miscarriage]), Sherri gives 110% daily to our kids. She’s mentored plenty of other mothers and their children through the homeschooling organizations she’s founded, served on boards, taught, etc. Without at all being a helicopter, she still moms the 2 adult children lovingly. And our youngest gets attention like she’s our first or only. Recently when a situation presented itself, God asked us to be a temporary guardian for a young boy and Sherri answered God’s call to that assignment & has fulfilled it with passion every day since. She brings love and joy and creativity and spontaneity and a settled faith to our home every day.
I get a front-row-seat to not one, but TWO Proverbs 31 women! Love you both!
