Sometimes, our line of work leads to finding gems right here in our little town. Even better is when others come across those gems we are all familiar with. And spotlight them in Hollywood. Yes, I said Hollywood!
With all the chatter last month with a movie crew in town; and now another one being filmed right now- I can one up that! 🤭

I have wonderful clients who are friends of mine as well, who purchased a beautiful albeit well lived in and well loved century home a few years ago located just outside of the historical district right in downtown Medina. While the previous family had a great life no doubt in that home, Greg and Judy took it upon themselves to make it their own doing many renovation projects to make the house their family home. Any boy, it is a stunner now. So much so that it was spotted by a film crew this past summer and my clients were approached about letting filming take place in their home. The home I sold them! (so can I say I sold a famous home?? lol) After working out all the details and such, in came Hollywood.

Filming took place over the course of about a month- even lending a casting call to a family member’s dog getting the lead dog role in the film. Go Furgie! They wall-papered two rooms, added a few pieces of furniture, hung their own art in some places etc. (don’t panic- the home was returned fully to it's magnificent state before filming). My client’s classic wood paneled jeep even got the show business bug and a lot of screen time as well! Sam Waterson drove it around-how fun is that?!

The film Carousel stars Chris Pine, Sam Waterson, Jenny Slate, Katey Sagal, Jeffrey DeMunn, and Abbey Ryder Fortson; and is billed as a comedy- family drama movie.
Carousel debuts at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival this January 23, 2026. Cannot wait to see it fully released and see Medina shine. Greg and Judy are so excited to see their home through a different lens as well.

In real estate, not only do you not know the treats, gems and jewels you’ll find when listing or showing homes (plush carpeted bathrooms ring a bell?) but every once in a blue moon, you get to relay a super fun story like this one!

What is that saying again- a picture is worth a thousand words? (I mix up sayings all the time- ask Doug- it's my thing lol)

After being casted and in a sling most of summer, things were starting to turn up, then this happened. Needing milk. Not just any milk you see, but a 1/2 gallon in particular.

Five kids. I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of milk we have gone through in this family. With the first two, it was pink milk (Nestle's strawberry). Our daughter, now 33, drank so much 'pink milk' that I'm surprised she doesn't have permanent pink blush coloring on her cheeks.

When the little brothers came along- it was a whole new game. Weekly, 2 gallons of white milk and a gallon of chocolate milk. Yes, we made chocolate milk from the white milk, but milk already chocolate was on another level of deliciousness. Seriously- it's that good. And many many many weeks a third gallon of white was purchased.

Until today. One went back to FL to college; the baby we took last week to start his college journey; and the third is barely home to eat (until next month when he moves into his own house). Today, I realized I don't need 2 gallons- or one for that matter. We're turning into OUR parents with their itty bitty tiny 1/2 gallon of milk that fits in the door no less in the fridge.

This empty nesting has way more casualties than us parents. The food supply here has taken a huge hit. I actually went around with a wagon Sunday evening delivering pantry items to neighbors who still have little people in their homes to eat sugar filled cereal, lunch box treats, and other goodies I purged.

No more Cap'n Crunch cereal requests, or Cinnamon Life, or other crap we have let our kids eat by the hordes. Oreo's? Don't need them either (maybe I'll keep those) - or the fruit snacks! What is it with those things?? Sticky, gummy weird tasting things. We sent them off to their colleges with boxes of them because well, we'll never eat them here. I kept some Pop Tarts. Don't judge.

When I meet with downsizing clients, I have always felt I connect with them, understand the need to let go of the big house, find that perfect next home for them- and now- I know I can not dismiss the small pantry. I get it now. Until the boys get home for winter break.
