URGENT HELP NEEDED TO MAKE CHRISTMAS MERRY & BRIGHT FOR SOME LOCAL CHILDREN!!!

The Brunswick Salvation Army needs your URGENT help to make Christmas merry for 50 local children.

Due to a computer issue, the names of 50 needy children were not on the list of angel tree recipients and there were no presents for the parents when they came to pick up their Christmas Friday, Dec. 15 during the Army’s annual toy pick-up.

The local Salvation Army is asking for donations of toys and clothing for boys and girls ages 1-12 years along with diapers, wipes, toys and clothing for newborns and infants. Monetary donations are also welcome.

If you can help, drop off items at the Brunswick Salvation Army office, 1624 Reynolds St., Brunswick, Monday, Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Parker-Kaufman, Realtors office in the Beach Village on Jekyll Island Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. I will take any items from Jekyll over to the Salvation Army first thing Tuesday morning.

The Salvation Army plans to deliver these items to the needy families Tuesday.

As a board of directors member for the Brunswick Salvation Army, I thank you! Please feel free to share this with any local friends, groups, etc.

JUST ANNOUNCED BY OUR PARTNERS AT THE COTTAGES AT JEKYLL ISLAND:
*Deal announces $4 million for Jekyll Island restoration*
*Georgia's Governor will seek additional funds in amended budget for other hurricane-impacted beachfront areas*

Gov. Nathan Deal today announced the transfer of $4 million from the Governor’s Emergency Fund to the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency to fund critical and urgent restoration needs on Jekyll Island.
“Due to Hurricanes Matthew and Irma, there is an immediate need for the rehabilitation of the rock revetment and restoration of armament on the north portion of Jekyll Island,” said Gov. Deal. “I’ve allocated $4 million to cover these immediate needs and will seek supplemental funding in the amended budget to assist other beachfront areas impacted by hurricane-related erosion.”
This is in addition to the $4 million allocated for the revetment last year, we are told.

Keep a watchful eye on Hurricane Irma...here's a helpful list of what to take in case of evacuation. I would also add any personal pictures, family treasures, etc. to your list. Make sure you pack a cooler and snacks for the potentially long ride to safety.

If you were told to evacuate your home, would you be prepared? This checklist will help you always be ready in case of emergency evacuation.
