One of the weirdest things I do as a buyer's agent?

After we walk through the front door, I almost always head straight to the **family entrance**.

Because that's the door you'll actually use 99% of the time.

When everyone comes piling in after work, school, or practice, that's where the shoes, backpacks, purses, sports gear, and coats all land. If there's nowhere for those things to go, that little bit of chaos has a way of adding stress to every single day.

But a simple bench, a few hooks, a closet, or a well-designed drop zone? It completely changes how a home feels.

When I'm touring a house with buyers, I spend way more time than you'd expect standing in that space, imagining where everything will go. Not because I'm obsessed with mudrooms—but because I'm not just trying to help you buy *a* house.

I'm trying to help you find a home that actually works for the way your family lives. A home that makes life feel a little calmer every time you walk through the door.

One of my favorite moments from this week happened during a home showing.

The house had this really cool finished attic space right above two of the kids' bedrooms. Naturally, the parents had one very important question:

*"Can you hear everything going on up there?"* 😄

So we conducted a very scientific experiment.

One of us stomped around upstairs. Someone talked at a normal volume. We listened from the bedroom below.

The verdict? Surprisingly quiet. ✅

It's one of those little moments that reminds me that buying a home isn't just about square footage or finishes. It's about imagining everyday life. Where will everyone sit when we host a Superbowl party? Will this "front room" actually get used? Where will the kids drop their bookbags?

(And yes...they loved it enough that they're buying the house.)

Sometimes the best part of this job is getting to be part of those little moments that never make it onto HGTV.
