Hi Friends & Neighbors!!!
It's almost time for the Annual Blizzard Auction hosted by B-Rock 100.9 and sponsored by United Way of Williams County in partnership with United Way of Defiance County.
The Blizzard Auction has been a staple in NW OH since I was a little girl. In fact it started in 1979 - the year after the Blizzard of '78. [Who remembers the days of "Trade 'n Sell" on 100.9 with J.B Orendorf and Luke Thayman!? Can you still hear their voices.... "Hello, Auction..."!?]
If you're not familiar with the Blizzard Auction here is how it works: This year's auction is January 25th from 8AM to approx 7PM. Each year items are donated to the Auction by local individuals and businesses. Those items are separated into selling Blocks (which are posted ahead of time in the local newspaper and posted online at the United Way websites) and then people call in to give live bids for those items. The person with the top bid when each Block closes is the winning bidder and needs to pick up the items later that day at a designated location. The proceeds from the day's event go to the charities nominated that year to be the recipients.
Over the past couple of year's the United Way of Williams County started to partner with the United Way of Defiance County and an organization from EACH county is chosen and the proceeds from the sale are split between them. This year's recipient in Defiance County is the Backpack Buddy program and in Williams County it's out very own Storehouse 4 Hope, Inc.
As a board member of Storehouse I REALLY want to make sure we are successful so that Storehouse can thrive in this incredible year of need. I am personally working on putting together a few themed "gift baskets" to donate and I'm looking for people/businesses to help me.
BASKET 1:
"Bryan Ohio - Outfit, Dinner & a Movie"
This will be a $100 Gift Card to ElliAnn's Boutique/Mad Ox Men's Emporium donated by me and the boutiques. ---> But I also need someone to help me secure a $50-$100 gift card to either Zazarac's, Kora Brew House & Wine Bar, Jackie Blu's or Grand Plaza as well as a $20 gift card to the Bryan Theater.
BASKET 2:
"High on Hicksville Basket" - I'm hoping to find someone willing to secure a $50 or more gift card to Two Bandits Brewing Co. - Hicksville, as well as gift cards to some of the local boutiques and stores in Hicksville.
BUT LET'S NOT LIMIT THE DONATIONS TO JUST THOSE ITEMS!!!
Can you help with another donation?
> Gift Cards
> Big Ticket Items
> NCAA or Pro Sport Tickets or memorabilia
> Vacation Experiences
> New/Unused Furniture or Appliances
> Themed Gift Baskets
> Donations of Services (salons, nail technicians, carpet cleaning, tanning packages, personal training, Oil Changes, etc)
If you can't donate something, that's fine... you can still help by tuning in to B-Rock 100.9 on Saturday January 25th and bid on items? You just need to call 419-636-3175 ahead of time and secure a bid number.
Feel free to call me with questions or to donate items. I'm happy to make arrangements to pick up. 419-633-4997
Let's work together to make this a GREAT year!!!!
