When you visit Scenic Hill - Short Term Rental in Bryson City, NC, be sure to plan a day on Fontana Lake! The mountain views are gorgeous, you can fish, tube, or just enjoy the ride.

Only an hour from Scenic Hill, you can see one of nature’s beautiful displays!
Enter the lottery for your opportunity to get up close to the action! 💫

It’s almost firefly season! ✨

Hoping to see synchronous fireflies at Elkmont? Enter the lottery on Recreation.gov between April 24 at 10 a.m. (EDT) and April 27 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT) for your chance at a vehicle reservation. This year's viewing period is May 20-27.

During the viewing period, hundreds of visitors gather near Elkmont to watch Photinus carolinus, a firefly species known for its synchronous flashing. The park limits access to the Elkmont area during the eight-day period of predicted peak firefly activity to ease traffic, keep visitors safe and protect the fireflies during their mating season.

Apply, cross your fingers, and get ready for one of the Smokies’ most spectacular sights!
