🌞 As Our Summer Blessings Program Comes to a Close… ❤️
Today marks the end of something that has been incredibly special to our family and so many others.
Back in June, the farm partnered with S&S Homes Realty to launch our very first Summer Blessings Food Program. Our goal was simple: to help local families with children have a little less to worry about during the summer months when school meals weren’t available.
Over the course of eight weeks, we welcomed 18 families and 49 children into the program. After the first couple of weeks, two families no longer needed assistance, and we continued serving 16 families and 47 children throughout the remainder of the summer.
Every Tuesday, families received groceries to help with breakfasts, lunches, snacks, fresh produce, and a family dinner. But it became about so much more than food.
The children completed our Junior Farmer Passport, learned about gardening, nature, cooking, kindness, and caring for God’s creation.
Because of the incredible generosity of this community, every school-aged child will also head back to school with school supplies and backpacks.
None of this happened because of one person.
It happened because neighbors donated groceries. Friends dropped off supplies. Businesses gave. Volunteers packed bags every week. People prayed. Others quietly gave financially. Every single act of kindness mattered.
We’re especially grateful to S&S Homes Realty for believing in this mission and partnering with Luttrell Farm to make this program possible. It’s a reminder that local businesses can do more than serve a community, they can help strengthen it.
To every person who donated, volunteered, shared a post, prayed for us, or simply encouraged us along the way…
Thank you.
You helped feed children.
You eased burdens for parents.
You reminded families that they are loved.
You showed our children what kindness looks like in action.
And you proved that when a community comes together, amazing things can happen.
As Galatians 6:9 reminds us:
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
As we close out this first year, our hearts are full. We don’t know exactly what next summer will look like, but we do know this: the kindness shown by this community has planted seeds that will continue to grow.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us be the hands and feet of Jesus.
With gratitude,
