May or ā€œMay-hem?ā€
Finding Peace in the Busy Transition

There’s something about May that feels…full.
Full calendars. Full hearts. Full schedules. Full-on mayhem.

If you have kids, it’s the final push of the school year - performances, award ceremonies, field days, spirit weeks, teacher gifts, and maybe even a graduation that marks a major life shift. The kind that makes you pause and think, how did we get here so fast?

And even if you don’t have kids in school, May still carries a noticeable shift. It’s the bridge between structured routines and the more open, fluid rhythm of summer. The pace changes. The energy changes. And whether we realize it or not… we are meant to change with it too.

Because just like nature moves from spring into summer, we’re designed to transition - not sprint.

We are about to launch our last one from high school to college - a May full of prom, graduation, parties, family, and friends…taking her to orientation and getting ready to move her onto campus hours away. All while life and work is still going. So I am trying to focus on being present, finding peace in the mayhem, and joy in all of the little moments.

So if May feels overwhelming, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re just in a season of movement.

Here are a few gentle ways to navigate the month of May (or ā€œMay-hemā€) with more peace, presence, and intention:

1. Accept the Season You’re In

Real estate is sooo glamorous… right? ✨

Especially if you think it’s like Selling Sunset… (it’s not).

Cue me putting a sign out in the pouring rain, hair frizzing, shoes soaked šŸ˜‚

Behind the scenes looks a little more like:
• Putting signs out in storms, heat, hard ground, and wind
• 25+ showings before finding The One
• Cleaning up before photos (yes, sometimes with a vacuum in hand)
• Planting flowers and cleaning out garages
• Pet sitting for an open house
• Getting calls during cheer competition or date nights
• Writing offers in the car
• Negotiating contracts like a BOSS in jeans and a tshirt - or on your wedding day
• Chasing down the timeline, lenders, other agents, and sometimes clients šŸ˜…
• Problem-solving things no one ever sees
• Holding emotions, stress, and big life moments for my clients

It may not always be glamorous… but it’s always worth it. šŸ¤

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the ā€œsaleā€ - it’s about the people, the stories, and the homes where life happens.

And I wouldn’t trade that for anything. šŸ”āœØ

Outdoor Updates
Spring has a way of inviting us back outside - longer days, fresh air, and that feeling of a new beginning. And just like we refresh the inside of our homes, the exterior deserves a little love too. The best part? You don’t need a full renovation or a big budget to make a meaningful impact. Small, thoughtful updates can instantly elevate your home’s curb appeal, bring you more joy, and even add value.

Here’s how to give your home a fresh, welcoming glow this spring - without overcomplicating it.

Start with a Clean Slate

Winter leaves behind more than just memories - dust, pollen, and grime can dull your home’s exterior.

Power washing your driveway, sidewalks, siding, and even your porch can instantly brighten everything. It’s one of the most cost-effective ways to make your home look newer - because in many ways, it is. Add in clean windows and swept corners, and you’ve already created a noticeable transformation.

Add Life with Plants & Flowers

Nothing says spring like fresh greenery and blooms. This is where you can really infuse personality and joy.

You don’t need elaborate landscaping - start simple:

A pair of planters framing your front door
Fresh mulch in flower beds
Seasonal flowers like petunias, geraniums, or begonias
Window boxes if you want that charming, elevated look
These small touches make your home feel alive and welcoming - for you and anyone pulling up.

Refresh Your Front Door

Your front door is the focal point of your home’s exterior. A little update here goes a long way.

Consider:

A fresh coat of paint (think soft black, warm white, sage green, or even a muted blue)
A simple seasonal wreath or greenery
Updating hardware or house numbers for a more modern feel
It’s a small project with a big visual payoff - and one of the easiest ways to elevate your home’s style.

Tuesday Tip with Auggie

Local Outdoor Spot

Texas spring weather = get outside. Here’s one of my favorite local spots right now.
Sharing some of my favorite outdoor places in Hays County 🌳
In Buda I love pretty much any patio on Main St: Astra, Taste, Dos Olivos, Mudbugs, and Water2Wine. We love Aviators in Kyle! In San Marcos, you can usually find us at Palmers on the patio, Blue Dahlia in the Secret Garden, Patio Dolcetto (where our oldest used to work), or Industry. In Wimberley you can’t miss out on Community Pizza or Creekhouse when the weather is nice! And a little plug for when my son works, check out Wild Side in NB with their incredible outdoor area and Birria Taco Truck. Hmmmm...now I want tacos.

Where should I explore next?
