One of my favorite parts of living and working in Buda is getting to highlight local businesses that truly make our community special, and MudBugs is a perfect example. Located right in downtown Buda, this locally owned restaurant brings bold Cajun flavors and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

My husband James and I are regulars, and for good reason. MudBugs delivers an incredible dining experience at a great price! As well as no Austin traffic, no long waits, just really great food close to home. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind, enjoy a fantastic meal, and actually feel taken care of.

What really sets MudBugs apart is the care behind it. You can feel that the owners are passionate about what they serve, from the generous portions to the bold, flavorful dishes and consistently excellent service. The laid-back Cajun vibe makes it easy to relax, and it’s one of those spots that quickly turns into a weekly tradition rather than a one-time visit. For us, it’s become our go-to way to wind down after a busy week.

As another year comes to an end, it can be a bittersweet time for many. I like to reflect back on the year and all the memories I made. Here are some of the highlights from 2025 I will never forget:

- Spring Break in Seattle with the family.

- Quality lake time for me on my paddleboard with my favorite passenger.

- Two out-of-town conferences: San Diego with my favorite travel companion, Makenna and then to Toronto where I got to meet up with some of my besties from high school.

- Lots of 5k races this year which help me keep focused on my running.

- Was a guest speaker at Johnson High School Real Estate Class - I love to share my knowledge with the younger generations.

- Two big accomplishments for my kids: Makenna turned 16 and is now driving while Hayden graduated with his Masters in May from UTD.

I'm excited for a new year, new beginnings, and new opportunities. What are you looking forward to in 2026? I'd love to hear!

My favorite recipe for Christmas cookies! First, gather all of the ingredients. Second, take a cute picture for social media.
Finally (and this is the most important step), go to Abuelita’s Bakery Spot here in South Austin and buy as many of their cookies as you can. Give them to friends and family, and they'll think you baked them! Win-win. Happy Holidays, everyone.
