We have dummies here at Great Lakes! Don’t worry, just the mannequin kind. 😉 Our consultants are as smart as they come.

On a more serious note, we’re all set for our First Aid CPR AED training session today!

✅ Sanitized training dummies
✅ Reliable AED training units
✅ Organized equipment
✅ Certified instructors

We have two amazing First Aid CPR AED instructors on our team, certified through the National Safety Council and the American Heart Association. Our classes include training on First Aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, environmental emergencies, electrocution, preventing illness and injury, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies. Plus! We typically have a maximum of 10 trainees per class to allow for direct supervision and personalized guidance from the instructor, ensuring the best quality of training is provided.

Are your employees First Aid CPR AED certified? Need to get newly-certified? Need to renew your certifications? Reach out to Great Lakes to schedule a class or two for your company or team! Being certified could save a life.🫀🫁❤️

Scrolling through old files and found this gem!✨

This is our founder/owner/Chairman, Evan Casey, presenting on proper PPE and Respiratory Protection back in the day. The equipment being demonstrated is called a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), used in industrial settings to provide breathable air in dangerous and life-threatening environments.

There are two types of SCBAs: Open-Circuit, which vents exhaled air, and Closed-Circuit, which filters and recycles air for long-duration use. You may recognize this type of PPE; Firefighters use Open-Circuit SCBAs out in the field to protect themselves against smoke inhalation! 👨🏻‍🚒🔥

Evan laid the groundwork for Great Lakes and built the company through dedication, determination, and a surplus of safety knowledge. Evan eventually passed along the baton for training sessions and no longer conducts them himself, but I think we can all agree he deserves to now kick back and relax a bit after all his years of hard work. Nowadays, Evan sits as Great Lakes’ Chairman and oversees the business alongside our President Colin Casey, entrusting our wonderful consultants with any client training responsibilities.

It’s that time of year again! 🗓️ The 2026 posting period for OSHA 300A Forms started yesterday, February 1st. Make sure you put yours up! Don’t forget to electronically submit your OSHA 300, 300A, and/or 301 Forms if needed as well. The deadline is coming up soon!

📌 Posting Period: February 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026 (Form 300A)
📮 Electronic Submission Deadline: March 2, 2026

The majority of employers must post their OSHA 300A Form at their establishment(s) every year, and some may need to electronically submit their forms through OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA) as well.

“Back in its rightful place.”

Congrats to our Great Lakes ‘25-‘26 Fantasy Football Winner, EHS Project Manager Joe Lorusso! 🏈🏆✨

We crowned our winner at today’s company meeting for all to relish in his glory. May we all strive to beat him next year, though.

When asked about his key to success, Joe said strong running backs were the way to go. As the former 2023 champ, Joe looks forward to adding another year to his placard (to be updated soon).

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! From all of us at Great Lakes - may everyone have a wonderful holiday season.✨🎄🎁

On a regular day, we’ll often provide a short safety discussion called a Toolbox Talk for some clients. At Great Lakes, we think safety is important even on our days off. With that said, here are our 12 Holiday Safety Toolbox Talk Topics that we’d like to share with you:

1. PPE (proper present excitement… just say thank you for the millionth pair of socks and move on)
2. Leaving Out Milk AND Cookies For Santa (you don’t want to see that guy hangry… trust me)
3. The Hazards of Wrapping Presents (those paper cuts can get gnarly)
4. Safe Sleigh Operation (looking at you, Santa)
5. Incident Review (Grandma got run over by a reindeer last year and we can’t have that again)
6. Heat Illnesses (that pesky Heat Meiser)
7. Housekeeping (for Hosts only)
8. Cold Weather Work (can’t forget the Cold Meiser either)
9. Santa’s Workshop LOTO (for Authorized employees (Elves) only)
10. Eggnognomics (the best ways to sit while drinking eggnog)
11. Staying Off Of (OSHA’s) Naughty List
12. Holiday Stress Management (so many things to do, so little time)

Tough enough for construction sites, stylish enough for the road.

Check out one of our three custom-decal Great Lakes trucks! Our consultants are out in the field a large portion of the time, driving all across Western New York to different client sites. Keep an eye out - you never know, you might just see one of us out on the road!

Had some visitors at our office today!🐦‍⬛🌳❄️

What a nice send off for the weekend. Does anyone know what type of birds these are? I wonder if they’re traveling south or just stopping by for lunch.
