On Tuesday, September 15th, from 5:00–7:30 PM, Hallmark Team members Petreen Thomas, Keiah Shauku, and Katie Segarra, joined industry leaders at Uniland Development Company’s Signature Event inside the Seneca One Lounge at the incredible new Highmark Stadium!
Bringing together elected officials, developers, architects, planners, and regional visionaries, the evening offered a powerful platform to connect, share insights, and discuss the future of our built environment.

Events like this highlight the strength of cross-industry collaboration and our shared commitment to regional growth. We are proud to be part of a community that is continuously innovating and building for tomorrow.. . .

Over the past year, our partner and client, Open Buffalo, has experienced significant, unacceptable, and disgusting ILLEGAL DUMPING on the future site of their Urban Ecology Climate & Resilience Campus located in Buffalo's Broadway-Fillmore district. The latest incident is another reminder that we must work together to PROTECT THIS LAND and the investment being made in our community. Where some see trash and an invitation to dump waste of all sorts, WE SEE VALUE, and an opportunity to BUILD SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL with generational impact.

Open Buffalo and the Eco Collective have worked extensively to engage residents and build awareness through public meetings, listening sessions, network events, community outreach, and the Eco Campus Block Party. Now we are asking EVERYONE to help us take the next step.

The project is currently advancing through the Brownfield Cleanup Program application and environmental cleanup process. As we prepare this land for redevelopment, continued dumping creates additional environmental challenges, cleanup costs, and delays that can directly affect the progress of the project.

We've engaged elected officials. We have plans for cameras and other CPTED tactics, but we need YOU.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Petreen Thomas has joined the Hallmark team as our new Community Design & Development Planner! 🌟👏

Petreen brings an incredible blend of creative design, spatial storytelling, that is deep-rooted in community passion. Holding a Master of Architecture and Master of Urban Planning from the University at Buffalo, her extensive background spans architectural design, site visualization, and hands-on neighborhood engagement across Western New York.

From drafting conceptual site plans and rich visual renderings, to creating interactive community engagement strategies, Petreen will be working right at the intersection of planning, placemaking, and real estate development. Her talent for transforming community ideas into vibrant visual concepts will play a huge role in shaping centered, equitable development across the communities we serve.

Since joining the Team last month, Petreen has already been a contributor to 'The Hallmark Effect'. She's a true self-starter with fantastic ideas, and natural problem-solver whose hardworking drive is matched only by her warm, effervescent personality.

🎉 Big News at Hallmark Planning & Development 🎉

Hallmark is ecstatic to announce that we are continuing to grow and strengthen from within! We have officially promoted Hezekiah Hall from Intern to a new permanent role as, Community Development Assistant! Since joining us in August 2025, Hezekiah has balanced higher education pursuits, while mastering new concepts, techniques, and skills on the job. From grassroots community outreach to AI integration, his contributions have directly boosted Hallmark's bottom line. Hezekiah is truly a teammate with a capital "T"—dependable, insightful, always ready to fill gaps, and constantly bringing a unique perspective to every project.

In his expanded, permanent role, Hezekiah will serve as a vital bridge between our team and the neighborhoods we serve:
~Community Engagement & Outreach: Assisting with event logistics, setting up public workshops, and driving resident engagement across urban planning and real estate initiatives.

~Fieldwork & Research: Conducting site visits, neighborhood observations, field data collection, mapping support, and stakeholder presentations.

~Program Support: Helping to coordinating community ambassadors, volunteers, and local programming ranging from educational workshops to clean energy and infrastructure projects.

~ Real Estate & Planning Operations: Assisting our planners and development team with active project research, marketing analysis, and administrative coordination.

Whether he's helping transform communities on the clock or playing golf, basketball, pickleball, and bowling off the clock, Hezekiah brings positive energy to everything he does.

A PUBLIC celebration is in order!!!

​We are thrilled to announce that Allen Mendez—formerly our Real Estate Graduate Student Intern—has officially stepped into the permanent role of Real Estate & Development Associate at The Hallmark Firm! While this transition happened earlier this summer, we couldn't let another moment pass without publicly celebrating his massive elevation.

​From day one, Allen has proven to be an invaluable teammate. Smart, endlessly resourceful, and remarkably hardworking, he embodies the game-changing nature of The Hallmark Effect. He approaches his work with a fearless boldness, paired with a wisdom and humility far beyond his years. He is always eager to learn, grow, and serve.

​We are deeply grateful that Allen chose to plant his roots and continue his growth right here at Hallmark. We are also immensely thankful to his friends and family back in Westchester for sharing him with us as we plow ahead in the WNY community and beyond!

Congratulations to one of Hallmark's "OG's", Katie Segarra, MUP, WEDG 🎉 . Kate has been with the firm from our humble beginnings and continues to help shape HPD everyday. She has grown from a shy, but quietly powerful General Planner, to a young professional that leads with grace, integrity, and boldness. She is a dedicated, resourceful, kind, forever learner, who puts her hands to the plow everyday with intention to contribute as a difference maker. She consistently shows up for her teammates and always exhibits a can-do attitude with positivity. Katie is a solution-oriented thinker, who is hardworking, and independently executes new and exciting ways to approach her role in each project she's assigned. Over the years, she has nurtured, developed and sharpened others as she has evolved herself. Along with all that she has poured into the Hallmark team and WNY Community, she has contributed even more to her family. She and her husband, Dan recently welcomed a beautiful baby boy into their lives (who we all have adopted), who adds an even greater element of joy to her life. We are grateful for Katie and look forward to many years of meaningful community impact, and the delivery of 'The Hallmark Effect'.
