September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to wear GOLD to honor the children who are fighting, celebrate the brave survivors, and remember the beautiful souls we have lost.
On Tuesday, September 15th, the Property Appraiser’s Office will be wearing GOLD in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness.
Please join us that day as we stand together in support of our local Flagler County families who have faced or are currently facing childhood cancer. 💛🎗️
Childhood Cancer Facts:
🎗️ In 2026, approximately 9,680 children under age 15 are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in the United States.
🎗️ About 1,090 children under age 15 are expected to die from cancer in 2026.
🎗️ Cancer remains a leading cause of disease-related death among children in the United States.
🎗️ About 85% of children diagnosed with cancer now survive at least five years, compared with approximately 58% in the mid-1970s.
🎗️ The most common childhood cancers include leukemia, brain and central nervous system tumors, and lymphoma. Leukemia accounts for approximately 28% of childhood cancers.
🎗️ Before age 20, approximately 1 in 266 children and adolescents will be diagnosed with cancer.
