🏡 More homes on the market doesn't automatically mean the market is slowing down.

That's one of the biggest misconceptions I'm hearing right now.

Here's what the latest May 2026 Northern Virginia housing market data actually shows:

📈 Pending sales: 1,903
📉 Months of inventory: 1.93
⚖️ A balanced market is typically 5–6 months of inventory.

The takeaway?

Even with inventory increasing slightly, Northern Virginia remains a highly competitive seller's market because buyers are continuing to absorb new listings.

Every market is local, and understanding the numbers matters before making a move.
