DR. HARRY GUFFEE • FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE’S DOCTOR ON HORSEBACK 🕰️

Well, y’all, yesterday’s story about the old Dr. Dan German Hospital seems to have opened one more little door into Franklin’s past…

And goodness, what was waiting on the other side.

Dr. Harry Guffee.

His name has been turning up again and again in your comments, tucked inside the sweetest memories of babies delivered, house calls made, and a doctor folks clearly never forgot.

So naturally, I went looking.

And before long, there he was.

A Franklin doctor in a cowboy hat, headed out along the country roads to see his patients.

And when the road got too rough for the truck?

Dr. Guffee unloaded his horse and kept right on going.🕯️

Now if that does not paint a picture of old Franklin, I do not know what does.

Just imagine it for a minute…

A winding country road. Dust hanging in the air. A black doctor’s bag. A horse stepping carefully along. And somewhere ahead, a family waiting on a physician they trusted enough to know that somehow, some way, he was coming.

Goodness gracious, I love this story already.
