Let the holidays begin! Who doesn’t love a beautiful gingerbread house to kick off the season? The enchanting history of the gingerbread house dates back to Germany during the 16th century. The tradition was further popularized by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, "Hansel and Gretel," where a gingerbread house was an enticing refuge in the heart of the forest. Crafted with care and adorned with sugary details, this delightful confectionary has been a symbol of festive cheer for generations. 🏰🍬🎄

A wonderful tradition in San Francisco is the life-size gingerbread house at the Fairmont Hotel in Nob Hill. It's on display now through the New Year. Did you know that you can actually book a dining experience inside the house for up to 8 guests? 🍽️🏠

The house is started in July and made of 8,000 baked bricks of real gingerbread and pounds of See’s Candies to cover the two-story structure, which stands at 25 feet high, 35 feet wide, and nearly 11 feet deep. 450 hours then go into decorating those bricks with icing and the sweets.
