A new stretch of the San Mateo County coast is officially open.

Don Horsley County Park at Tunitas Creek Beach is now welcoming visitors daily, with 58 acres, nearly a mile of sandy shoreline, scenic overlooks, picnic areas, and an ADA-accessible path to the mid-bluff overlook.

Located along Highway 1 between Half Moon Bay and Pescadero, it’s a beautiful new place to explore the coast.

One of my favorite little escapes in San Mateo? The Japanese Garden at Central Park.

Right in the middle of downtown, it feels surprisingly peaceful. You can wander past the koi pond, bamboo, and beautiful Japanese landscaping, sit for a while, and forget you're just steps from the city.

It's one of those places you might walk past a hundred times before realizing what a gem it is.
