CityPlace Burlington

CityPlace Burlington The Shops at CityPlace Burlington (formerly Burlington Town Center) on the Church Street Marketplace have now closed.

CityPlace Burlington is a mixed-use development building much-needed new homes, reconnecting city streets, creating green areas and public spaces, and offering new retail, restaurants and service businesses to revitalize the core of Downtown Burlington. Soon this property will be transforming into a mixed-use downtown Burlington destination featuring new homes, street level retail, restaurants and more, where you can live, work, shop, learn, play, and eat!

At risk are new roads, new housing, and the ability to break ground on a completely approved project.

"'When we have 400-plus new housing units essentially on the line here, that elevates the importance of finding a resolution to this dispute,' Councilor Brian Pine said."

After years of delays, it seemed in February that the CityPlace Burlington project was finally back on track. Mayor Miro Weinberger announced that he'd brokered...

A creative solution to a difficult problem –– completing a job in 10 weeks which would normally require more than 6 months called for excellent collaboration and an amazing team.

Almost every trade participated to make this project a reality: we owe it to the carpenters, flooring & ceiling installers, painters, tilers, plumbers, tin knockers, framers, sheetrockers, sprinkler, elevator & escalator techs, HVAC experts, electricians, computer wiring & phone techs, and security who worked 12 hour days, 7 days a week to enable this brand new, fully-functional downtown educational environment, in which students can return to in-person learning.

And we’d like to give a special thanks to: Marty Spaulding, Facilities Director for Burlington School District — he and his team did an amazing job moving desks, chairs, computers, etc. for 1000+ students and staff; Randy, Steve and Brenda at Colin Lindberg Architects; and our Project Super, Eric Gulfield, who was there every day from December 1st until completion, only taking off Christmas and New Years Day!

Let's Go!

For years, Burlington residents have been pushing the city to make progress on two important goals: improved walkability, which will reduce its carbon footprint; and a healthy mix of locally owned businesses, to serve not just tourists but the people who actually live downtown.
